Bogue Profumo
Founded in 2012 by Antonio Gardoni—an architect, designer, and self-taught perfumer—Bogue Profumo began with Eau d’E, its first fragrance released to the public. In 2013, Gardoni released Cologne Reloaded after discovering 1940s fragrance preparations in an abandoned pharmaceutical laboratory and using them as the basis for a new cologne. MAAI followed in 2014 and became the fragrance most closely associated with Bogue Profumo’s early recognition. Presented as an animalic woody chypre with strong links to vintage perfumery, MAAI grew from Gardoni’s attempt to work with tuberose in a more masculine way. His architectural training informs an approach to fragrance built in layers and conceived in terms of rooms, mood, texture, light, and color, with methods including alcohol infusions, steam distillation, and nocturnal experimentation. MEM, released in 2017, continued this layered, unconventional style. In 2022, the brand marked ten years of fragrance work with 10 edt, described as a stylistic turning point and a new starting point for its olfactory research. Its creative practice also includes Bogue MASK, a 2015 terracotta-and-wood tool Gardoni designed to evaluate raw materials and finished compositions.
