Bois 1920

Bois 1920 traces its origins to Florence in the 1920s, when Guido Galardi experimented with perfume formulas in a small workshop and collected lavender, called “Spigo,” from the Florentine hills. His work with essential oils, scented solutions, and perfumed sachets inspired the name Bottega Italiana Spigo 1920, from which the house developed. The original family perfume business later became dormant after Guido’s son Renato chose not to continue it. In 2005, Guido’s grandson Enzo Galardi revived the family heritage as Bois 1920, reinterpreting his grandfather’s formulas and ideas for a contemporary fragrance line. The house presents a Florentine artisan identity that combines traditional perfume-making with research into raw materials and newer olfactory compositions. Galardi shaped the first Bois 1920 line as its perfumer. In 2012, Come L’Amore was one of five finalists for The Fragrance Foundation’s FiFi Indie Fragrance Award in New York. By May 2019, the company was reported to remain in family hands after Galardi left for other projects.
