Founded in 2003 by Laurice Rahmé, Bond No. 9 was created as a tribute to New York in response to the city’s rebuilding and resilience after September 11. Its name and original home are tied to 9 Bond Street in NoHo, Manhattan, while its central creative idea is to give New York neighborhoods—and their communities, histories, and atmospheres—individual fragrances. This approach included a 2007 collection made with The Andy Warhol Foundation and a 2011 I Love NY collection created with Milton Glaser, bringing civic imagery and art into the brand’s perfumery. The Scent of Peace was the brand’s number-one bestseller in 2015, and its peace-oriented campaign received the United Nations Women for Peace Association Peace Award that year. For its 20th anniversary in October 2023, Bond No. 9 launched New York Forever, created with perfumer Domitille Michalon-Bertier.
