Bottega Veneta
Bottega Veneta was established in 1966 by Renzo Zengiaro and Michele Taddei in Vicenza, Italy. In 1975, the House introduced Intrecciato, a woven-leather technique that became its visual and tactile signature; the craft gained broader cultural recognition in 1980 when Lauren Hutton’s character carried an Intrecciato clutch in Paul Schrader’s American Gigolo. Bottega Veneta joined Kering in 2001, after which Tom Ford selected Tomas Maier as creative director. During Maier’s tenure, the house was rebuilt as a full-fledged luxury house, with his design influence extending across ready-to-wear, accessories, and fragrance. Maier left in 2018, and Daniel Lee succeeded him, debuting with the pre-fall 2019 collection. Matthieu Blazy became creative director in 2021; Louise Trotter joined in January 2025 and presented her debut show in September that year. On October 2, 2024, Bottega Veneta launched its first fragrance collection developed with Kering Beauté: five fragrances rooted in Venice’s cross-cultural history and the concept of interweaving ingredients from different countries. On March 31, 2026, L’Oréal acquired Kering Beauté and received exclusive 50-year licenses to create, develop, and distribute fragrance and beauty products under the Bottega Veneta brand.
