Bottega Verde

Bottega Verde began in 1972 as a small herbalist shop producing cosmetics in Pienza, Tuscany. Its identity is tied to Tuscany, plant-based ingredients, local biodiversity, and the sensory experience of ingredients, formulas, fragrances, and textures. The Lavino family acquired the business in 1992, shifting it from a small herbalist shop toward a larger family-owned cosmetics company. The first store in its future chain opened in 1996, followed by an online-sales website in 1999. In 2018, Bottega Verde began a rebranding process that by 2019 included a refreshed logo and a manifesto emphasizing transparency, natural research, biodiversity, and reducing unnecessary chemistry. By 2019, it was an Italian cosmetics brand centered on natural active ingredients and a direct, short-chain model spanning formulation, production, and distribution. Its current legal notice states that Bottega Verde S.R.L. is subject to the direction and coordination of ONIVAL S.r.l. Fragrance is part of the brand’s offer, with Cocco and Vaniglia Nera identified among its best sellers.
