Bottega Veneta was established in 1966 by Renzo Zengiaro and Michele Taddei in Vicenza, Italy. Its identity combines craft and creativity, reflected in a name meaning “Venetian artisanal workshop.” In 1975, the House introduced Intrecciato, its woven-leather technique and a visual and tactile signature. Its discreet, logo-free design philosophy was expressed through the tagline “When Your Own Initials are Enough.” Gucci acquired Bottega Veneta in 2001, after which the House became part of Kering. Fragrance entered the brand’s story in 2009 through a partnership with Coty, followed by its first women’s fragrance in 2011 under Tomas Maier’s creative direction. In October 2024, Kering Beauté introduced a five-fragrance collection presented as an olfactory interpretation of Intrecciato, drawing on Venice, cross-cultural exchange, and the House’s signature weave. On March 31, 2026, L’Oréal completed its acquisition of Kering Beauté and secured exclusive 50-year licenses for Bottega Veneta fragrance and beauty products, while the fashion House remained among Kering’s Houses.
