Broken Anatomy Perfumes is a United States fragrance brand founded by married couple Ryan and Liberty Handis. After Ryan Handis began reviewing fragrances in 2017, the couple officially launched the brand in November 2020 following roughly a year of development. Their careers in emergency and medical work inform a story-led identity that uses perfume to represent experiences including triumph, brokenness, memory, and fleeting enjoyment. The brand’s narrative connects those experiences with stories about people being broken and becoming who they are meant to be. Ryan Handis is identified as the brand’s founder and perfumer, and is self-trained rather than formally schooled in perfumery. Its first three releases—Chasing Memories, Brain Dance, and Burnt Remedy—were grouped as the classic memories collection, followed by Pages & Dreams in 2022 within the separate Anatomy exclusif line. Chasing Memories explores relaxation, togetherness, childhood memories, grapefruit, and warm towels, while Burnt Remedy evokes returning home after a forest fire through tobacco, hay, smoke, and chocolate.
