Brooklyn Soap Company
Founded in 2012 by Felix Ermer, Viktor Dik, and Jonas Hillebrecht, Brooklyn Soap Company operates from Hamburg and develops men’s care products in Germany. Its concept was inspired by handmade care products found at Brooklyn flea markets. By 2013, the founders were developing and distributing plant-based men’s care products, and the company received a Red Dot Design Award in 2014. The brand’s identity is based on natural ingredients and a “Zero Bullshit” philosophy, with formulations presented as free from microplastics, silicones, and unnecessary additives. Merz Consumer Care acquired a minority stake in early October 2020 and announced the company’s full acquisition on January 27, 2022. In fragrance, The Woods was Brooklyn Soap Company’s first perfume, developed by Paris-based perfumer Mark Buxton and launched in November 2015. The brand currently labels The Woods a bestseller and describes it as a woody Eau de Parfum.
