Fragrance house
Brown Girl Jane
Brown Girl Jane was founded in 2019 by sisters Malaika Jones and Nia Jones with Tai Beauchamp, and launched publicly in January 2020 as a plant-based CBD wellness and beauty company. Its early mission centered women of color in wellness while supporting greater representation and education around cannabis and CBD. The brand subsequently evolved from supplements and creams toward fragrance with a wellness angle, retaining its original wellness ethos. It now presents itself as a fine fragrance house connecting scent with culture, memory, emotion, and mood. Its debut fragrance collection, Wanderlust, brought together city-inspired scents built around emotional associations. In 2023, Brown Girl Jane was selected for Sephora’s Accelerate program, which supports BIPOC-founded brands and can lead to a Sephora North America launch. That year, Carnivale was identified as the latest fragrance collection, drawing cultural inspiration from Trinidad and Tobago’s annual Carnival.
