Bud Parfums
Bud Parfums is an Australian independent perfume house founded by Howard Jarvis and based in Warburton, Victoria. Jarvis came to perfumery after working as a photographer, naturopath, homeopath and herbalist, and identified Jonathan Midgley of Damask Perfumes as an important mentor. The house developed around small-batch, handmade niche perfumes made with natural raw materials, including Australian native oils such as lemon myrtle, lemon-scented tea tree, buddahwood and Huon pine. Its creative model combines limited-edition perfumes with custom commissions shaped around a customer’s preferences, alongside refillable bottles presented as a way to reduce packaging waste. Independent fragrance records list Bud Parfums’ earliest recorded edition in 2011 and latest in 2017, with Jarvis credited as the nose. In 2012, he described Scarlet and El Diablo as perfumes developed during a cold Warburton winter around cinnamon, nutmeg and clove; he described Sophia as a tribute to Guerlain’s Shalimar, important to him since childhood.
