Fragrance house
By Terry
By Terry was founded in 1998 by French makeup artist Terry de Gunzburg as a bespoke, couture-oriented cosmetics line. Before launching the brand, de Gunzburg spent 15 years as International Makeup Designer at Yves Saint Laurent Beauté, where she created or helped develop Touché Éclat, launched in 1992; By Terry’s first flagship store opened in Paris’s Galerie Véro-Dodat, and the line expanded into a wider luxury beauty range in 1999. Its identity combines luminous, natural-looking makeup with skincare-oriented formulas and active ingredients. Baume de Rose, introduced in 2004 after a formulation error doubled the rose butter in a lip balm, became By Terry’s most successful product and a worldwide best seller. By Terry entered fine fragrance with the five-part Haute Perfumerie Paris collection, created with Maison Robertet and including Flagrant Délice and Ombre Mercure; the line was rebranded from Terry de Gunzburg to By Terry in 2017.
