Cabochard

Cabochard is the signature fragrance associated with the Grès fashion and perfume house, established under the Grès name by Madame Grès in 1942. Madame Grès shaped the house’s creative identity through sculptural draping, silk jersey, and garments cut directly on the model. After a 1958 journey to India inspired the perfume idea, Cabochard launched in 1959 as the house’s first fragrance. Composed by Bernard Chant of IFF, it is a green leather chypre whose name refers to an obstinate or headstrong character. Lalique Group acquired the Parfums Grès licence in 2001 and the Grès brand in 2007. Under Lalique Group ownership, Parfums Grès has translated couture ideas into perfumes, with an identity centered on confident women and a vintage-oriented sensibility. The house later introduced Madame Grès in 2013 and Pièce Unique in 2015, followed by Cabochard chérie and a Cabochard relaunch in 2019.
