Cabotine
Cabotine is a fragrance creation of Grès, the fashion house relaunched in Paris in 1942 by Madame Grès (Germaine Émilie Krebs). Her creative identity was rooted in sculptural, classically inspired draping and pleated silk-jersey designs, and the Grès label operated from 1942 to 1988. Cabotine launched in 1990 as a chypre-floral fragrance, conceived as a younger-generation counterpart to Cabochard, Grès’s best-known signature fragrance, launched in 1958 by Bernard Chant. Jean-Claude Delville created Cabotine to contrast with Cabochard, imagining a younger, more relaxed woman. Initially expected to support Cabochard as a flanker, Cabotine was well received and became a major success; it also achieved particularly strong success in Japan, where it was associated with a “second skin” effect. In its later corporate history, Lalique Group obtained a licence for Parfums Grès in 2001 and acquired the brand in 2007; the group identifies Parfums Grès among the global brands under its professional management.
