Cadillac
Cadillac was founded in Detroit in 1902 by Henry M. Leland and named for Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac, the French founder of Detroit. It emerged from the remnants of the Henry Ford Company and initially operated as the Cadillac Automobile Company before consolidating with Leland & Faulconer in 1905. Early Cadillac identity centered on precision manufacturing and interchangeable parts, alongside engineering milestones including electric starting, ignition and lighting, the first mass-produced V8 in 1915, and the first production V16 in 1930. Its visual language included the Goddess hood ornament, introduced in 1930. In 2021, the debut of LYRIQ marked a shift toward electric luxury vehicles. The following year, Cadillac presented CELESTIQ as an all-electric flagship concept focused on design, innovation and bespoke craftsmanship, with sculptor Richard Wiquist creating a 21st-century version of the Goddess for the vehicle. Cadillac also marketed five fragrance editions between 2008 and 2012, attributed in reference databases to perfumer Arnaud Winter.
