Caesars World

Caesars World began in 1956, when brothers Stuart and Clifford Perlman borrowed money to open a Lum’s hot-dog restaurant in Miami; by 1969, the chain had grown to 379 restaurants. In 1971, after selling most of the restaurant chain, the Perlmans formed Caesars World Inc., centering the new company on Caesars-branded gaming resorts. The business expanded beyond Caesars Palace through the 1972 acquisition of the Thunderbird Hotel and the 1979 lease of Park Tahoe, later known as Caesars-Tahoe. Caesars World also operated a branded fragrance line that included Caesars Woman and Caesars Man, which were planned for department-store marketing in 1988; the fragrances are classified as floral-spicy and herbaceous, respectively. Following Caesars World’s acquisition, Park Place Entertainment changed its corporate name to Caesars Entertainment, Inc., effective January 5, 2004, carrying the Caesars identity forward.
