Capcom
Capcom is a Japanese video-game company whose businesses include the planning, development, manufacture, sale, and distribution of home-video, mobile, and arcade games. Established in 1979 as I.R.M. Corporation, it was followed by the establishment of a software-selling company named old Capcom Co., Ltd. in June 1983; the corporate name became Capcom Co., Ltd. after a 1989 merger with Sanbi. Its early evolution included arcade and home-console releases such as Street Fighter, Mega Man for NES, and Final Fight. Street Fighter II, released in 1991, triggered a boom around the series and was described as a landmark in the fighting-game genre.
