Captain Fawcett

Captain Fawcett was established in 2010 by Richard “Richie” Finney, who began making moustache wax at home for personal use before producing an initial 100 jars after film-set colleagues expressed interest. Its fictional figurehead is Captain Peabody Fawcett, an Edwardian explorer who disappeared in 1905; the brand’s lore links its story and products to a trunk discovered in 1997 containing journals and grooming recipes. Captain Fawcett combines British humour and heritage with a contemporary interpretation of gentlemanly grooming, expressed through a continuing fictional world of recurring characters and collaborations. In 2025, Finney received an MBE for services to international trade and charity. The brand’s fragrance legacy is particularly associated with Ricki Hall’s Booze & Baccy, its first Signature Series collaboration, developed as a tribute to Hall’s father. The Eau de Parfum won Best Personal Fragrance in 2016 and was Highly Commended for Best Fragrance at the 2025 Pure Beauty Global Awards.
