Capucci

Roberto Capucci launched his fashion house on Rome’s Via Sistina in 1950 and presented his first fashion show at Florence’s Sala Bianca in the Pitti Palace in 1952, during which he created the Box Line. He opened his first Paris fashion house at 4 Rue Cambon in 1962 and continued presenting work in Paris throughout the 1960s. Capucci’s creative identity is expressed through sculptural, experimental clothing conceived as studies in form and informed by art, architecture, nature, color, and unconventional materials. In the early 1980s, he withdrew from the formal fashion system and pursued collections and presentations independently. His work has maintained a museum and exhibition presence since a first museum exhibition in 1971, including international presentations and a 1995 Venice Biennale appearance. The Roberto Capucci Foundation was created in 2005, with Villa Bardini in Florence becoming its headquarters and museum in 2007. The contemporary brand is formally tied to the foundation and archive through an exclusive agreement. In fragrance, Capucci introduced Graffiti and Parce Que! in 1963.
