Fragrance house
Casino
Casino is a former East German fragrance brand dating to 1965, when Casino de luxe was developed by Aerosol-Automat Oberlichtenau as a domestically created fragrance. It became a bestseller in East Germany and gained a luxury position because it was difficult to obtain, earning the nickname “the chief secretary’s fragrance.” In 1970, Casino de luxe received a gold medal at the Leipzig Fair, and the fragrance was exported to socialist countries including the Soviet Union, Poland, and Czechoslovakia, as well as to some Western markets. The original range was discontinued in 1990 after the end of the German Democratic Republic; a 1994 relaunch by Aeronova Dresden ended production again in 2006. In 2009, Casino Parfuem Saxonia Fritzsche & Enders GbR acquired the fragrance rights, presenting a Casino de luxe relaunch at the Leipzig Cadeaux trade fair that September. Casino de luxe remains the defining fragrance associated with the brand, whose current documented identity continues to connect Casino with its 1965 heritage.
