Caudalie

Caudalie was founded in 1995 by Mathilde and Bertrand Thomas after they met Professor Joseph Vercauteren during the 1993 grape harvest at Château Smith Haut Lafitte in Bordeaux. It began with three products containing grape-seed polyphenols, and its identity centers on natural-origin skincare, scientific research, and patented grape-derived actives. Mathilde Thomas helped shape that direction by co-creating the brand, developing its grape-centered approach, and personally evaluating formulas. Its milestones include Beauty Elixir in 1997, Les Sources de Caudalie Vinothérapie Spa in 1999, and the introduction of resveratrol into skincare in 2001. Vinoperfect, launched in 2005 after the identification and patenting of the vine-stalk sap-derived active Viniferine, is one of Caudalie’s defining products. From 2013 to 2023, Caudalie collaborated with Harvard Medical School researcher David Sinclair on ingredients and patents including TET8 technology. In 2023, it reinvented the Resveratrol-Lift range around plant-based vegan collagen technology, and in 2025 highlighted a Premier Cru collection based on a Harvard-developed longevity patent and a new natural-origin plumping active.
