Cavalli
Founded in Florence in 1970, Cavalli developed through Roberto Cavalli’s experimentation with leather, printed and stretch denim, and animal prints. He presented his first collection in Paris that year, followed by the Roberto Cavalli Women’s Collection at Florence’s Sala Bianca of Palazzo Pitti in 1972. Animal prints were a distinctive hallmark of the 1994 international breakthrough collection, while Cavalli Jeans was later rebranded as Just Cavalli, a younger line. Roberto Cavalli stepped down from leadership in 2015, after which Peter Dundas and Paul Surridge interpreted his creative vision. In November 2019, Hussain Sajwani acquired Cavalli through Vision Investments, part of the DICO Group; the Roberto Cavalli group is currently owned by Vision Investment Co. LLC. Roberto Cavalli’s flamboyant, glamorous style and textile innovations are central to the brand’s identity. Its fragrances debuted in 2002, followed by the Roberto Cavalli Gold Collection in 2014, while Roberto Cavalli Serpentine is presented as a signature scent built around creamy vanilla, florals, and warm woods. Roberto Cavalli died on April 12, 2024, aged 83.
