Cerruti 1881

Cerruti’s textile history begins in 1881, when Antonio Cerruti founded Lanificio Cerruti in Biella, Piedmont, Italy. Nino Cerruti inherited and modernised the family business from 1950, founded HITMAN in 1957, and launched the Cerruti 1881 maison in Paris in November 1967, presenting its first collection alongside the opening of the Place de la Madeleine boutique. The house developed a creative identity that bridged formal and informal menswear through relaxed casual chic, combining Italian textile expertise with a Parisian fashion-house context. Nino Cerruti’s influence also reached cinema and sport, including Hollywood costume work and clothing associated with major athletes and Ferrari’s Formula 1 team in the early 1990s. Cerruti Holding sold the fashion brand in 2001, while a separate acquisition of the Cerruti 1881 fashion trademarks took place in 2023. In fragrance, Cerruti 1881 Pour Homme, created by Martin Gras in 1990, became a classic and the brand’s bestseller.
