Cerruti
Cerruti traces its roots to Lanificio Cerruti, the textile business established by the Cerruti family in Biella, Piedmont, in 1881. Nino Cerruti inherited the company in 1950, founded the menswear company Hitman in 1957, and launched the Cerruti 1881 maison in Paris in November 1967 alongside its first collection. His relaxed, nonchalant menswear silhouette and development of deconstructed tailoring shaped Cerruti’s creative identity; Giorgio Armani worked at the house from 1964 to 1970 and was associated with advances in deconstruction and the use of male textiles for women’s fashion. Cerruti expanded into women’s collections, and in 1994 became the official designer of Ferrari’s Formula 1 team. After Fin.part’s collapse, Cerruti was sold to MatlinPatterson in 2006. In 2018, Shandong Ruyi became Trinity Limited’s controlling shareholder, while Trinity’s portfolio included its self-owned Cerruti 1881 brand. Fragrance entered the brand’s story with Nino Cerruti in the late 1970s, followed by Cerruti 1881 Pour Homme in 1990, described as a classic and best-seller.
