Fragrance house
Chantecaille
Chantecaille was founded by Sylvie Chantecaille in 1997, and the eponymous company was launched with her daughter Olivia in 1998. The brand began as a fragrance line before expanding into makeup after Neiman Marcus responded favorably to the fragrances and asked Sylvie to create a makeup line. Its original perfume-house concept comprised four floral fragrances: Frangipane, Le Jasmin, Tiare, and Wisteria. The broader brand developed around high concentrations of pure botanicals, with rosewater becoming the first ingredient in its skincare. By 2011, Olivia Chantecaille was serving as creative director and shaping the makeup direction alongside Sylvie. Beginning in 2006, Chantecaille’s philanthropy collections supported the protection of endangered species and habitats. Beiersdorf agreed to acquire the Chantecaille skincare business in December 2021 and completed the acquisition effective February 1, 2022; Chantecaille continues as a separately managed selective brand within Beiersdorf’s Consumer segment, retaining its skincare, cosmetics, and fragrance positioning.
