Charriol

Charriol was founded in 1983 by Philippe Charriol after he left Cartier to establish his own watch brand. Its early identity was built around Swiss watchmaking and a steel-cable design inspired by Celtic culture, a signature that recurred across its watches and jewelry. The first collection, Celtic, appeared that year with a feminine-first strategy and masculine variations. In 1989, Charriol introduced the St-Tropez watch line, inspired by the French Riviera; it is described as the brand’s most successful line and a continuing bestseller. Coralie Charriol’s creative direction preserves the founder’s cable and craftsmanship codes while bringing a modern perspective to an identity framed by French heritage expressed through Swiss watchmaking. Charriol marked its 40th anniversary in 2023 with the Navigator Surf watch collection. Its fragrance business began through a Cofinluxe license in 2007, and by December 2008 its initial line comprised two women’s scents and one men’s scent, first launched in Asian and Middle Eastern markets.
