Chatillon Lux
Chatillon Lux is a St. Louis fragrance brand founded in 2015 by perfumer Shawn Maher. It began in South St. Louis with skincare and shaving products after Maher created a scented face balm, then evolved toward a perfumery-focused line. Its creative identity draws on St. Louis history, places, people, and culture, while its name references Henri Chatillon, a historical figure associated with the city. In June 2020, production of the brand’s shaving-product bases shifted to Declaration Grooming, which became the sole provider of Chatillon Lux fragrances in those bases while Maher retained the fragrance-making role. Around 2020, Maher created the separate Maher Olfactive house after some Chatillon Lux work moved beyond the brand’s St. Louis-centered brief; Santal Auster and Nefertiti moved to that new brand. Weinstrasse, composed by Maher, was a finalist in the 2020 Art and Olfaction Awards Artisan category. Chatillon Lux identifies Rose Santal, developed from the sandalwood accord used in Santal Auster, as its most popular scent.
