Child Perfume
Child Perfume was created by perfumer Susan D. Owens in 1989 as her personal fragrance and introduced to the public in 1990. Owens chose the name Child because perfume evokes the past, while childhood represents a particularly strong memory. The brand is organized around this single legacy fragrance, with its original design and artisan-making approach remaining central to its identity. In November 2016, after more than 20 years, Owens sold the business to California-based Beautyhabit; Beautyhabit’s co-owners were taught the handcrafting methods, and Owens’s assistant continued under the new ownership. The fragrance has since been updated by replacing materials restricted or banned under 2026 regulations while attempting to retain the character of the original design.
