Christian Audigier
Christian Audigier was born near Avignon, France, on May 21, 1958, and began working for the French jeans company Mac Keen as a teenager. In 2002, he worked on the Von Dutch line, where celebrity-led promotion helped establish its trucker-hat identity. His creative approach centered on tattoo-inspired imagery, rhinestones, trucker hats, and celebrity visibility. While producing Ed Hardy products, he announced his own clothing line in 2007; a 2008 profile described Christian Audigier as an upscale label launched alongside Smet, Crystal Rock, and Paco Chicano. The brand’s fragrance history began in 2009 with a signature line for men and women introduced in travel retail. Hearts & Daggers, an Ed Hardy fragrance by Audigier, reflected that label’s tattoo-based clothing identity. On April 29, 2011, Audigier’s holding company sold Ed Hardy’s master license rights to Iconix Brand Group while retaining licenses for certain apparel categories. The official website now presents Christian Audigier as a reimagining of Audigier’s legacy, associated with streetwear, celebrity-driven vision, tattoo motifs, and trucker hats.
