Ciatu - Soul of Sicily
Established in 2014, Ciatu – Soul of Sicily was created by Andrea Spatola and is based in Siracusa, Sicily. Its purpose is to promote and enhance Sicilian cultural heritage through cosmetic and fragrance products. The name Ciatu means “breath” in Sicilian usage, expressing Sicily’s soul, sensory character, and cultural memory. The brand’s creative identity draws on the island’s landscapes, scents, myths, historical layers, and cultural contrasts, while its packaging uses imagery connected to Sicilian archaeological and artistic heritage. Ciatu received an honorable mention in the packaging competition of the International Design Awards in 2014. Its fragrances use natural Sicilian essences and evoke the island’s scents, colors, history, and cultural heritage. Taormina premiered in 2014 in Eau de Parfum and Eau de Toilette versions and was described in a 2018 editorial as the emblem of the brand. The line also includes Catania, presented in 2018; Akragas, inspired by Agrigento’s Valley of the Temples; and Khalisa, introduced in 2023 through a story linked to an Arab courtier in Palermo.
