Claus Porto
Claus Porto traces its documented brand origin to 1925, when Ach. Brito acquired Claus & Schweder, a business whose products had already received a gold medal at the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair. In 1936, it introduced Musgo Real, a men’s grooming collection that grew from soaps into shaving products, aftershaves, colognes, and fragrances. The brand was relaunched in 1994 by Achilles de Brito’s great-grandchildren, Aquiles and Sonia de Brito, with a heritage-based identity for North American and later UK markets. After Menlo Capital acquired a majority stake in Ach. Brito in 2015, Claus Porto underwent a repositioning and, from 2016, revised its visual identity while retaining links to its history and tradition. In 2022, Aquiles de Brito repurchased Ach. Brito in full, returning the parent company of Claus Porto to family ownership. Today, Claus Porto’s identity centers on heritage, decorative design, traditional craftsmanship, and fragrances associated with Portugal. Musgo Real remains its clearest fragrance legacy: Classic Scent is presented as the collection’s first male fragrance and most emblematic cologne, while perfumer Daphné Bugey created Musgo Real Clássico 22 in 2025.
