CLEMENTONI
Founded in 1963 by Mario Clementoni in Recanati, Italy, Clementoni began with La Tombola della Canzone, a game connected to the Sanremo music festival. The company soon moved from board games into educational play: Sapientino, introduced in 1967, combined entertainment with education and became the hallmark of its learning-through-play identity. During the 1970s, puzzles became an important export product, while a first Walt Disney contract in 1971 led to a Disney-related game the following year. In the 1990s, Clementoni broadened its educational identity into scientific games, early-childhood products, and creative play. Today, it is an Italian games-and-toys company centered on learning, discovery, imagination, and growth through play. In 2014, the company remained in the founding family’s hands.
