Clinique
Clinique was founded in New York City in 1968 by The Estée Lauder Companies as the first dermatologist-created prestige cosmetic brand. Its origins lay in a US Vogue discussion about whether great skin could be achieved through a proper skincare regimen, bringing beauty editor Carol Phillips, Evelyn Lauder, and dermatologist Norman Orentreich together in its development. Clinique’s founding identity centered on applying dermatological thinking to cosmetics and addressing individual skin types and needs, expressed through its Three-Step System of Cleanse, Exfoliate, Moisturize. Clinique Laboratories, LLC is part of The Estée Lauder Companies. In fragrance, Clinique Happy, introduced in 1997, is the brand’s best-selling fragrance and the core of the Happy family, while Aromatics Elixir is a cult classic scent.
