Cochine

Cochine was founded by Kate Crofton-Atkins after she moved to Vietnam in 2009, where Saigon’s jasmine, frangipani, French architecture, and tropical evenings prompted fragrances inspired by the character of French Asia. Crofton-Atkins developed the fragrances with a New York-based fragrance house and spent more than a year working with oils from plants associated with Vietnam and Asia. The first White Jasmine & Gardenia candles were produced in March 2010, giving the young brand an early identity in home fragrance. Cochine later grew from candles and other home-fragrance formats into a fragrance house offering eau de parfum alongside fragrance oils for the home. Travel, escape, and Southeast Asian flora remain central to its olfactory identity, with references including champa jasmine, delentii orchid, water hyacinth, and agarwood. White Jasmine & Gardenia, centered on champa jasmine and inspired by Saigon’s streets and gardens, became Cochine’s signature fragrance. Another notable development was Tuberose Absolute & Sandalwood, created through Crofton-Atkins’s collaboration with master perfumer Maurice Roucel.
