Fragrance house
Comptoir Sud Pacifique
Founded in 1974 by Josée and Pierre Fournier, Comptoir Sud Pacifique grew from their shared passion for perfume and travel, with a founding concept of evoking distant places through South Pacific journeys and exotic raw materials. The house developed as an independent, niche, artisanal, and creative perfume brand centered on travel, original scents, and quality materials. In 2002, the founders sold the company to new owners from the luxury-perfumery investment world; the strategy that followed moved it away from its artisanal universe toward multibrand distribution and weakened its original positioning. Valérie Pianelli-Guichard acquired the company in November 2010, after several difficult years, and relaunched and modernized it with the aim of restoring its travel-based identity, focus on quality materials, and originality. Its creative identity continues to emphasize discovery, exoticism, travel memories, and fragrances inspired by faraway places. Vanilla, a signature ingredient present since 1974, anchors the fragrance universe; Vanille Abricot, released in 1993, is identified as the brand’s best-selling fragrance, while Aqua Motu, also introduced in 1993, is an early marine fragrance using oceanic accords.
