Cosme Decorte

Cosme Decorte, now styled DECORTÉ, was launched in 1970 by KOSÉ Corporation as a premium cosmetics line and remains a KOSÉ-owned brand. Founded by KOSÉ founder Kozaburo Kobayashi, it was shaped by a philosophy connecting cosmetics with hope and dreams. The name combines the French words “cosmetique” and “decoration,” reflecting an aim to connect inner fulfillment with outward confidence. DECORTÉ’s identity brings together Japanese craftsmanship and Kihin, or elegance, with a balance of art and science, tradition and innovation. Its skincare history includes the launch of AQ in 1990 and MOISTURE LIPOSOME in 1992, described as the industry’s first serum to use the liposome name. In 2018, Kate Moss became creative director for the look of its advertising campaigns and appeared in them. For its 50th anniversary, DECORTÉ ran the “Embrace Your True Beauty” campaign, named Brie Larson a global muse, and announced a new fragrance collection. In fragrance, the KIMONO collection gathers modern scents inspired by the beauty and symbolism of the kimono. AQ Eau de Parfum was the first fragrance launched under the AQ line in the 33 years after its introduction.
