Fragrance house
Costume National
Costume National was founded in Milan in 1986 by brothers Ennio and Carlo Capasa. Ennio Capasa directed the house’s design and image, while Carlo led its business affairs. The brand made its formal Paris womenswear runway debut in 1991 and launched Costume National Homme as a dedicated menswear line in 1993. Its visual language combined minimalist, cool styling with black and leather, presenting men’s and women’s looks within a shared design language. In 2001, Costume National Scents extended the fashion house into fragrance, developing a niche-perfumery identity rooted in Italian fine-perfumery tradition, experimentation, and a rock-and-roll sensibility. Scent Intense, also launched in 2001, is one of the house’s most iconic creations and a turning point in artistic perfumery; its woody, amber, leather, and floral construction expresses the house’s punk-rock identity. Sequedge, which first partnered with the Capasa brothers in 2009, took control in 2016 after the founders sold their remaining shares and left, ending their direct creative and executive leadership.
