Cry Babies
Cry Babies is a toy and entertainment property created and owned by Spain-based IMC Toys. Founded in 1981 by 15 toy entrepreneurs, IMC Toys initially distributed Nikko and Meccano products before moving into the design and launch of proprietary toy lines. Cry Babies emerged from that in-house development and launched in 2016, introducing fanciful nurture dolls with exaggerated heads and eyes, colorful animal-themed clothing, and a playful visual identity. Its world draws on pacifiers, bottles, tear-shaped motifs, and a fantasy setting seen from a baby’s perspective. The property later expanded through the collectable Cry Babies Magic Tears line, webisode storytelling, and BFF by Cry Babies, which extended the concept toward older children and fashion-doll play. Toys were joined by audiovisual content, apps, games, and digital experiences, with the animated series entering Netflix’s catalogue in 2022. In April 2025, following IMC Toys’ insolvency proceedings, Chinese group Wui Ming acquired the company behind Cry Babies.
