Fragrance house
d'Annam
d'Annam is a Vietnamese fine-fragrance house founded in 2023 by Nick Hoang, who is identified as its founder and creative director. Hoang’s childhood in rural Vietnam, shaped by memories of lotus, rice paddies, lime leaves, gardens, rain, and shared meals, provided the creative foundation for a brand that translates Asian cultures, local heritage, everyday rituals, and personal memories into fragrance. Its first collection, Chapter 1: Enchanting Vietnam, comprises nine fragrances and presents a personal, contemporary interpretation of Vietnamese heritage. The house’s cultural chapters include Enchanting Vietnam in 2023, Memories of Japan in 2024, and Majestic China in 2025. The Japan chapter involved cultural advisors, poetry curator Keita Sato, and perfumer Anh Ngo; the China chapter lists advisor Martin Yang and perfumers Anh Ngo, Xinyue Wang, and Luis Hou. The Vietnam collection offers d’Annam’s clearest fragrance identity, particularly through White Rice, a tribute to jasmine rice, and Vietnamese Coffee, inspired by Vietnam’s Robusta-and-condensed-milk drink. In May 2026, Japanese Whiskey and Chinese Calligraphy were named finalists in the Independent Category of the Art and Olfaction Awards.
