Dalí Haute Parfumerie
Dalí Haute Parfumerie began with a 1982 agreement between French perfumery entrepreneur Jean-Pierre Grivory and Salvador Dalí, who agreed that Dalí would lend his name to the project and design its perfume bottles; they signed a worldwide perfumery licence at Púbol on 17 December 1982. Dali le Parfum launched at Paris’s Musée Jacquemart-André in 1983 and reached wider perfumery distribution in 1985. Dalí designed its debut bottle from the lips and nose of Aphrodite in his 1981 painting The Apparition of the Face of Aphrodite of Knidos in a Landscape, and the fragrance was described as a tribute to Gala. The current line is presented as an art-and-fragrance expression of Dalí’s surrealism, imagination, and eccentricity. In 2016, Dalí Haute Parfumerie launched internationally in a collection created with perfumer Alberto Morillas and inspired by Dalí’s jewelry collection. That year, a rights-recovery process regularized and licensed products using Dalí works or inspirations that had been marketed without authorization since 2004.
