Dana Buchman

The Dana Buchman label debuted under Liz Claiborne, Inc. in 1987, with its first collection reaching stores that September. Before receiving her own label, Dana Buchman joined Liz Claiborne in 1982 after earlier work with Christian Dior and Ellen Tracy. The label developed a softer, less tailored design identity, marked by long, loose silhouettes influenced by Buchman’s Southern upbringing. Buchman joined the Council of Fashion Designers of America in 1991 and later served on its board. Kohl’s launched the Dana Buchman classic lifestyle brand in February 2009 across women’s apparel, intimate apparel, accessories, and footwear. In 2011, Liz Claiborne sold the Dana Buchman trademark to Kohl’s. Kohl’s discontinued the brand in 2020.
