Dana Classic Fragrances

The House of Dana was founded in Barcelona in 1932 by Javier Serra, a former Myrurgia executive. Its first perfume, Tabu, launched on August 22, 1932. Created by French perfumer Jean Carles, it became associated with a classic oriental fragrance style and a sensual reputation. Carles also created Canoe and Emir for the house, materially shaping Dana’s early creative identity. The portfolio expanded with 20 Carats and Bolero in 1933, Canoe and Emir in 1935, Platine in 1938, Voodoo in 1951, and Ambush in 1955. In the 1990s, Dana added licenses for established fragrances including Chantilly, Love’s Baby Soft, and English Leather, broadening its stewardship of classic scents. The Renaissance operations were later merged and renamed New Dana Perfume Corporation, a successor subsequently described as Dana Classic Fragrances. In 2025, Dana Classic Fragrances Inc. was among the IMG Holdings debtors in Chapter 11 proceedings; on October 28, the Delaware Bankruptcy Court approved the sale of substantially all debtor assets to Dana Heritage Finanz St. Honore Beauty LLC.
