Fragrance house
Dana
Founded in Barcelona in 1932 by Javier Serra, a former Myrurgia executive, the House of Dana introduced its first perfume, Tabu, on August 22 of that year. Created by French perfumer Jean Carles, Tabu became Dana’s clearest defining fragrance and is identified as a classic oriental scent and perennial best-seller. Dana’s visual identity included a Greek-inspired woman’s-head logo drawn by Spanish artist Mariano Andreu. Its early fragrance portfolio grew to include 20 Carats, Canoe, Voodoo, and Ambush, which was well received in 1955. During the 1990s, the business also acquired licenses for established fragrances from other houses, including Chantilly, Love’s Baby Soft, English Leather, and British Sterling. In 2003, Dana Classic Fragrances assumed management, sales, and distribution of New Dana’s fragrance trademarks. After IMG Holdings and related entities filed Chapter 11 proceedings in August 2025, a sale order approved Dana Heritage Finanz St. Honore Beauty LLC as buyer of substantially all the debtors’ assets, including Dana-related assets; the sale closed on October 31, 2025.
