Darren Alan Perfumes

Darren Alan Perfumes is an independent fragrance house founded by perfumer Darren Alan in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Darren Alan began studying aromatherapy and perfumery in the late 1980s and early 1990s, then continued through correspondence courses and mentorship; in 2005, he established Pure Skin Formulations, LLC, an artisanal skincare and fragrance company that released perfumes before the Darren Alan Perfumes line was launched. Darren Alan Perfumes is a division of Pure Skin Formulations, LLC. Its aesthetic draws on classic vintage perfumery, combining period-inspired methods and materials such as artisanal distillations, tinctures, absolutes, and seasonal effleurage with contemporary compositions, while Alan specializes in vintage and historic perfume recreation. Chypre No. 1, dated to 1998, is the brand’s oldest available scent and a defining fragrance: it emerged from Alan’s study of the chypre genre and became a catalyst for further perfume creation. In 2024, Dust and Clay was presented as an October Perfume of the Month and identified as a ÇaFleureBon Best of Scent winner; the house also created Lipstick Queen for ÇaFleureBon’s 15th anniversary.
