David Yurman
Founded in New York in 1980 by sculptor David Yurman and painter and ceramicist Sybil Yurman, David Yurman grew from their collaborative art-and-design practice, which treated wearable objects as part of an ongoing artistic project. The company remains a privately held, family-owned limited liability company and has a public identity as an artist-founded American designer-jewelry house combining sculpture, architecture, materials, and wearable design. Created in 1982, the first Cable bracelet became the brand’s signature design and a recurring structural element across later collections. Evan Yurman joined the company in 2003 and has shaped the design direction of its men’s, wedding, and high-jewelry collections; in 2025, his work further evolved Cable into Sculpted Cable through architectural and bas-relief influences while retaining the original Cable design language. In fragrance, David Yurman introduced its first women’s fragrance in 2008 and later developed the David Yurman Essence Collection, a trio of fragrances related to the artistry of the jewelry brand.
