Davidoff

The Davidoff name traces to Zino Davidoff, whose family established a tobacco shop in Geneva in 1911. In 1970, the Oettinger Group took over the shop and began establishing Davidoff as an international brand; Zino Davidoff SA followed in 1980 as a Swiss-based family business, with Zino Davidoff’s name and outlook central to its identity. From this tobacco heritage, Davidoff developed a multi-category presence spanning perfumes, leather goods, writing instruments, eyewear, cufflinks, coffee, and cognac. Its fragrance legacy is closely associated with Cool Water, introduced in 1988 and composed by Pierre Bourdon. Presented as an ocean-inspired fresh scent, it was among the five best-selling men’s fragrances worldwide more than two decades after launch. In May 2023, Coty and Davidoff renewed and extended the licence under which Coty has operated Davidoff fragrances for more than twenty years, supporting updates to the Cool Water line and new fragrance development.
