Fragrance house
De Ruy
Founded in 1929, De Ruy is a privately held Spanish family company specializing in perfumery, cosmetics, personal hygiene, and home fragrance. Its lineage includes the Almerian perfume business Nike, which operated from 1929 until Campomar acquired it in 1984; the two businesses then adopted the De Ruy name. The company developed from a family perfume business into a broader fragrance and beauty group combining proprietary brands, licensed brands, and projects created for third-party clients. In 2020, De Ruy acquired from Puig the rights to established Spanish fragrance brands including Brummel, Impacto, 1916, and Sportman, expanding its portfolio. De Ruy was recognized in the Business Model category at the 2018 Premios Andalucía Excelente. Its fragrance history includes Agua de Colonia 1916, created in 1916 by Russian perfumer Meisonier; its acceptance by both women and men helped establish the idea of a family cologne. Zinnia, created in 1990 by perfumers Alain Muraour and Rosendo Mateu, is another prominent fragrance associated with the brand.
