Decleor
Founded in Paris in 1974, Decléor began with the belief that essential oils could serve as functional cosmetic actives to rebalance the skin. Originally called Cléor, the brand’s early development involved Solange Dessimoulie and aromatherapist Caroline Colliard. Decléor developed around selecting, extracting, and precisely blending essential oils with professional manual treatments in salons, institutes, and spas. Aromessence became a signature of that approach: concentrated essential-oil treatments integrated into the brand’s Aroma Duo ritual. Decléor’s olfactory legacy lies in aromatic essential-oil skincare rather than in a standalone fine-fragrance house or a single signature perfume. L’Oréal acquired the brand from Shiseido on April 30, 2014, then stopped commercializing it in December 2023. In December 2024, L’Oréal sold Decléor to Cospal, a French family beauty-brand builder led by Matthieu Lesieur. Decléor’s current legal notice identifies COSPAL SAS as its publisher, while its brand presentation continues to center on cosmetic precision, aromatic skincare rituals, and professional salon and spa care.
