Dermalogica

Dermalogica grew out of the International Dermal Institute, founded in 1983 by skin therapist Jane Wurwand to provide postgraduate education for professional skin therapists. In 1986, Dermalogica followed as a product line developed by Jane and Raymond Wurwand after they identified a gap in professional skincare education and heard from students who lacked suitable products to sell; its intended purpose was to improve skin health without common irritants. The brand’s identity is built around professional-grade skincare, education, customized regimens, skin health, and human touch, rather than trend-led or luxury positioning. Its development and professional-education model were shaped under Jane Wurwand, identified as co-founder and chief visionary. Unilever announced an agreement to acquire Dermalogica on 24 June 2015, and its 2015 financial report records completion on 1 August 2015. In 2001, Dermalogica launched Daily Microfoliant, described in its official history as an iconic product that remains a best-seller.
