Desigual

Desigual was founded in Barcelona in 1984 by Thomas Meyer, beginning with a jacket made from second-hand denim scraps. Its name and slogan were suggested by filmmaker Isabel Coixet. Early visual identity came from graphic artist Peret, who created the first logo, while architect Tonet Sunyer designed the first store, in Ibiza’s port, in 1986. The brand’s creative language is built around singular, distinctive designs and Mediterranean inspiration, with patchwork, arty and boho elements linked to that original jacket. From 2015, Desigual pursued a transformation that included redefining its product and brand identity; in June 2019, it permanently inverted its logo as a marker of the new phase. The 2019 repositioning sought to reconnect with younger consumers and recover the brand’s creative character through artist collaborations, a renewed identity and the Love SS20 collection, while retaining references to its origins. Its creative program also included the inBETA experimentation platform and collaborations with Miranda Makaroff, Okuda San Miguel, Jordi Mollà and Christian Lacroix.
