Diana Ross
Diana Ross’s fragrance brand extends a public identity built across music, fashion, stage, film, and television. Her creative story began in Detroit, where she joined the Primettes while attending Cass Technical High School; after the group signed with Motown, it became The Supremes. In 1967, the group was renamed Diana Ross and the Supremes, and Ross left in 1970 to pursue a solo career. Her cross-disciplinary work included designing the wardrobe for her character in the 1975 film Mahogany and an Oscar-nominated performance as Billie Holiday in Lady Sings the Blues. The fragrance brand launched publicly on December 5, 2017, with Diamond Diana, introduced through HSN. Developed from Ross’s ideas linking scent with love, music, memories, notes, chords, and harmony, it was identified as her first fragrance. Ross designed its diamond-shaped bottle from her crystal collection, with Simon James London executing the design direction. Her public milestones include Kennedy Center Honors in 2007, a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012, and induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
